Frederick’s First Apartment Community Built to Energy Star and LEED Standards
Earlier this month, East of Market earned Gold ratings on the “LEED For Homes” rating system for five buildings that make up the apartment community: 1301, 1300, 110, 111, and 120 Holling Drive. This distinction was approved by Green Business Certification, Inc., known as the GBCI.
LEED is an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Obtaining a LEED certification is a rigorous process in which businesses can attempt to meet recognized standards of building sustainability.
In order to obtain a LEED certification, buildings must be tested and approved in areas such as water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, and indoor environmental quality.
East of Market’s Gold certifications, one of the highest LEED certification levels achievable, stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to green initiatives.
