Fun, Seasonal Events in Downtown Frederick

Frederick, Maryland is a great city to enjoy Halloween festivities and autumnal events.  Downtown Frederick, in particular, is home to both fall beauty, with abundant fall foliage, and numerous historical sites that are places of local legend, allure, and “spoopy” fun.

Below are three “spoopy” events taking place in Frederick this month that the East of Market team hopes our residents can enjoy:

1) Murder and Mayhem Walking Tour: This tour, organized by The Museum of Frederick County History, begins on East Church Street and details some “scandalous” moments in Downtown Frederick’s history.  This tour will take place on Saturday, October 27.  Learn more online:

East of Market is a short drive, bike-ride, and even walk to many points of interest in or near Downtown Frederick.  The following destinations and events in this city are the foundation for perfect week-night or weekend plans during this autumn season:

  1. Observe Fall Foliage in Baker Park: Historical Baker Park is a great destination in the autumn because it provides the perfect vantage point to see leaves turning colors.  Complete with walking paths and fields adjacent to Carroll Creek and Culler Lake, Baker Park is a picturesque place to spend an afternoon this autumn.
  2. Participate in a Frederick Ghost Tour: Downtown Frederick is rich with history including multiple buildings used during the American Civil War.  Ghost Tours of Historic Frederick are led by experienced tour guides dressed in period clothing that take attendees to multiple buildings and sites around Frederick to discuss popular stories and events at these local landmarks.  Learn more online.
  3. Attend a Downtown Frederick Event: Several great events are happening in Downtown Frederick this fall.  There will be food tours around Market Street and the First Saturday event on November 5 will be a “Holiday Open House” theme.  Learn more on the Downtown Frederick Partnership website.
